Hello all
I have integrated NFC stickers with HomeGenie and my Windows 10 phone. I've developed this idea for my own pleasure but I'd like to share it so maybe someones finds it useful.
The thing is I've bought some cheap NFC stickers and have strategically spread in my house. Now when I tap a sticker with my phone a HomeGenie script gets executed, without any UI nor app interaction. If you are like me and carry your phone everywhere you'll find that this is a very fast way to execute any task!
To accomplish this functionality I've published a little Windows 10 app called SimpleCurl (link at bottom) as there wasn't any app with the functionality I was looking for.
How does it work? The idea is that the app knows the Url and (optionally) the user/pass of your HG server. The sticker only has the path to invoke, so when you tap the sticker, it instructs the phone to open the SimpleCurl app. This app constructs the full Url using the already stored HG base url + the path from the sticker and executes the http Get. After this, the app autocloses immediatly so there isn't any UI interaction.
Some simple usage: Tapping a sticker next to the couch enables some scenario (TV off, low lights, background music...). Other sticker next to my bed turns off everything connected to my HG setup (lights, tv, AC...) when tapping, etc.
Enjoy!
