Trying to run the r474 release just hangs Windows Explorer. Tried downloading it again; same result... It won't install from within the Maintenance page of HomeGenie either...

Hi gcoupe,
It is a new install?
Try to uninstall in windows software manager, cancel the content of "C:\Program Files\HomeGenie"  then download again and watch if some antivirus or other stop the installer.

Open in the browser the link:
http://127.1.0.1/

I installed in windows seven and work well.
What kind of operating system use?

First I tried to update from within an existing install. That didn't work. Then I tried running the downloaded install file directly. That hangs the Windows File Explorer.

Finally uninstalled everything, and started from scratch. System now running, and I'm rebuilding the configuration.

This is on a Windows 8.1 machine.

I would recommend saving a backup of your configuration if you don't want to spend all the time to restore your settings.  The backup utility works very well (although slow on Raspberry Pi).

It's happened again. the latest beta r474 won't install on a particular PC.

I think that the issue is that something has gone wrong with the Windows UAC on this particular machine. When I open the r474 executable on another machine, I get the Windows 8.1 pop-up warning me that there may be a security risk with the program. I choose "run anyway" and the program installs.

On the problem PC (also running Win 8.1) I don't get the pop-up, just a spinning circle in the File Explorer, and that's it.

So the issue probably isn't with HomeGenie at all, but with UAC on this particular machine.
