Just a curiousity question here relating to my doo all RPi2 with an RTC PiFace clock and RaZberry GPIO Z-Wave + card.
Relating to the time line of automation we are at a point of the multiprotocal wireless hub and then some.
1 - has the Zigbee GPIO / USB stick been considered yet?
2 - wireless automation using 802.11X
3 - Insteon automation (well not pure wireless but also a serially connected PLM)
4 - UPB (well not wireless but serially connected like X10) and its not really used much in the EU today.
Been playing with HomeGenie and I am very impressed to date with it.
I am utilizing UPB, Insteon, Z-Wave, Zigbee and X10 today. It's a hobby here.
Phone wise now have gone back to Microsoft Mobile (well 8.1 / 10) from many years ago using Microsoft Mobile 6.1. (from Android and initially PalmOS Mobile from the 1990's with GPRS for internet connectivity).
Moved now a towards the use of a Linux base for Automation (today its Ubuntu 14.04 / 64 bit and the RPi2) moving from Wintel Server with consoles which are either embedded Wintel or Linux or Android or ....
