The Vera plugin relies on: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EI69TAY/ (it was on sale for $70 a few weeks ago)

Helped my neighbor add that to his Z-Wave network to control the DSC alarm system that he has. It works really nice, because it is bi-directional. He can control the alarm system from his Z-Wave controller, but at the same time trigger scenes via the alarm system components as well. Entering a PIN code on the alarm system to disarm it will turn Z-Wave lights on, etc.

We are both running our network on a Vera3 controller right now, but the Raspberry Pi B+, Banana Pi, and sensors/components that I ordered during BlackFriday should arrive soon, so I can get back into fiddling with HomeGenie (and Eden). Hoping I can assist in getting Nest Thermostat, Schlage deadbolts, and VoxCommando to work with HomeGenie, so I can replace the Vera3 or in worst case use HG as a slave.
