I assume you had no problem getting the HDMI part to work, but did you calibrate the AR1100 touchscreen controller yet?

Manual @ http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/41605A.pdf

On another note; if you enjoy "big" home automation control -- then I guess too late for you now -- but these are awesome:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CHYKVPQ (21.5" @ 1080p)

Newegg had them on sale last month for $159, and so far I find them perfect for HomeAutomation/Security/etc. control. Build in speakers + webcam allows for lot of extra options. Running mine with ImperiHome right now, which is able to use the webcam to detect motion and turn the display automatic on approach.

They don't have a VESA option for eays mounting on the wall, but with a little DIY that should not pose a problem. For the moment I'm still using them on tables/desks, and they also come in handy for Skype webcam calls, and more.

For HomeGenie you can just run the webinterface inside Chrome, or use the dedicated Android app.

And some Android tablets with Wifi under Android cost only around 50$. Easy to fix on the wall, only bring it a permanent supply.

  • Things are only impossible until they are not
I'm using a 10" Android tablet as my main touch control panel using HG web interface with Chrome.
Perfect and cheap solution.

I'm planning on a small tablet at some point.  Touch screens are so cheap these days, but tablets are pretty much the same price point and require no framing/other hardware to work.  The only requirement, which is the same for the touch screen, is a power source.

If you can install the RPi + touchscreen at a good location, that would certainly be easier and more direct.  I don't want to install my HA system anywhere near where I might want a touchscreen controller, hence tablet.

Post pictures when you finish!   8)

Have you not seen the Mirage software?

http://www.homegenie.it/docs/diy/mirage.php

It allows you to use an executeable to directly connect and interface to your HG install.
