I wrote this so I could have the updated levels of the z-wave devices without having to constantly query the devices.
This was important to me for a few reasons:
  • I have another program for a remote which toggles the lights on and off based on their current settings, so I need the up to date data.
  • But one of my switches seems to have issues and flake out when all that traffic would constantly pass through it.
  • Accessory switches also wouldn't inform HG about main switch updates, so power levels wouldn't be tracked.

Now I don't have a lot of experience with Z-wave, or HomeGenie, so it may be I missed some functionality which would allow propagation of scene changes to the HG controller, but I didn't see that anywhere, and of course there may be a better way of doing this, but it worked for me.
