Title: Samsung TV Control
Post by: tasioX on December 07, 2014, 07:32:10 PM
Sorry to flood the board.  Just wanted to get this out there.  I would love to see a control app for Samsung TVs.  It seems to be doable, and I will be working on it, but I have a feeling this one may be above my pay grade as I am not much of a coder.  On and Off functions for the TVs would be amazing so you could do timed power on or off, and remote control triggers as well.  Setting up one Power button to turn all equipment on or off.

I'm planning on making a control for a Philips television soon. I'll try making it so that it's easy to adapt for other televisions.

I posted a start here:

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell it looks like Samsung TVs need an SDK installed to be able to work with their API so I don't think my APP will be of much use to you.

One option is to do basic stuff via HDMI. It not universal to HG but I implemented this for my Samsung TV because I run HG on a Pi connected to the Samsung (Raspbmc + HG). So it just uses the HDMI-CEC/Anynet+ commands via cec-client to turn on and off my Samsung, mute, etc.

Yeah I have tried and there are a number of problems with my particular setup.  Nvidia Card to Yamaha Receiver to Samsung TV.  The Receiver is the only one that works correctly with the HDMI-CEC.  I have tried every variation but each has its own problems.  It seems that Power on may be impossible with these TVs over the network.  I continue to research but have yet to find anything that will correct my particular issue.
