I recently purchased a WINK hub from HomeDepot and promptly rooted it. I am now able to access internal API functions using http requests. This thing has radio support for 4 different protocols (ZWave, Zigbee, Lutron, and WIFI), which makes it a great value for only $50.
I think this would be a great addition to HG. I can assist with development/testing if needed. Does anyone else here have a rooted WINK hub?

Point me to rooting the Wink hub.
I read somewhere that you can purchase them now for $20 at your local big box store.
Might spend $50 if you tell me where to purchase one tomorrow.
I am near Chicago here.

Where did you see wink hub (has six radios on board: WiFi, Bluetooth, Z-Wave, Zigbee, and 433MHz Lutron and Kidde) for $20? Checked online at HomeDepot and the Wink hub is still $50.
Googling I found these links on rooting wink hub :

http://docs.wink.apiary.io/ (http://docs.wink.apiary.io/)
They had a recent problem where they remotely bricked all the hubs in the field. Fix was to either return the hub to them, or do some router setting trick to force it to re-update. I think they took all the hubs off the shelves and returned for update.... Anyway, I wonder if all the hubs in the stores will be hackable after they have the fix applied?
Also there is a mini "link hub" from GE, HD has two bulbs and hub for $25 right now:

Also $25 at Wink site:

$40 currently on amazon:

I can't figure out if the link hub is hackable or useable via http though.

After they pulled the hubs from the shelf and factory updated the firmware (to fix the bricking bug), the normal way of rooting became impossible. Latest I heard, there is a way to root by shorting 2 pins after opening the hub to trigger an exploit. I find this info generally by googling "wink hub root" every so often.

Did anyone ever work on incorporating the Wink Hub into HG? I see that some thermostats claim Wink support, though WiFi, Z-wave, Insteon, and Zigbee models are also available. I don't have a Wink, but it's always looked intriguing. If I could directly incorporate it into my HG setup, I'd probably jump at this point.
