I've noticed that home genie will stop functioning after a few days (3-5).  I checked the console and didn't see anything obvious, but I did come a cross this

I take it by the lack of posts that this is not normal and may be something specific to my installation.  I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 on a VM.  I've long suspected that it's a USB thing being dropped by my VM.  If I unplug and replug in the stick it seems to clear itself after a HG reset.

I had a similar issue, though I was never able to find anything useful in the logs.  My issue turned out to be the z-wave level poll script.

MikeH:

The HomeGenie memory usage does not rise continually as the days go?

It looks like the USB stick is getting disconnected after about 2 days. I'm running on a VM so that could be a contributing factor.  I'm going to switch back to rPI and see how that works.  I've got a 1 and 2 that I can try it on.  Is anyone having USB issues with an rPI1?

Specifically the error I was getting is

cp210x ttyUSB0: usb_serial_generic_read_bulk_callback - urb stopped: -32

I also run in virtual machines (Hyper-V). I use the "USB redirector" software. It share your USB device over ethernet.
Even my problem was that the USB extension was connected to a USB stick. And it did not receive enough power, and disconnected.

Hi mikeh,

What is the power of your supply, it will be good with a raspPi and USB to use 1.2 or better 2 Amps.
With 1 Amp I got sometimes ethernet cable (20 meters) link failed when I put Aeonlabs ZStick 2 with my RPI1. With new power supply that's work. I have post already in another subject about that. The guy change its power supply and then no crash.

Cheers
Dani

I was running on a virtual machine.... So the current draw doesn't really apply.  While on vacation I moved it over to a Raspberry Pi and stuck it on a 1.6amp 5v power supply.  It was not functioning when I returned home eventhough the stick was still lit blue.  I unplugged the stick and plugged it back in and it resumed function.  While I believe it could certainly be power related, I haven't seen the draw from an RPI approach 1.5amps and it seems to be more of a software disconnect, possibly a driver error for the stick (an S2).  I'll try a fresh install and see what happens.

I'm still getting an "undiscovered" state every 3-10 days with HG.  Running on a RPi with r493 and a sufficient power supply (I've tried 3, so I don't think that's the cause), I get a condition where the blue light on the S2 stick will be lit, but no commands get through.  If I rediscover the ZWave nodes it usually clears up the error.  When that doesn't work, unplugging and plugging back in the Stick always seems to solve the issue.  I'm running the latest firmware on the stick as well.

Is anyone else seeing anything like this?  I've tried it on two different installations (VM and RPi) and while the periodicity is different the symptoms are very similar.
