Hi,

I'm trying to fully understand how to setup the Aeon Labs Energy Meter. For background:

I've ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DIBSKFU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
Paired using this method to the Z-stick: http://aeotec.com/z-wave-home-energy-measure/918-home-energy-meter-instructions.html
And have found the command listing here: http://www.pepper1.net/zwavedb/uploads/resources/e0b35c0e67818e05ae869d08ec5b236709fcebad.pdf

The meter is connected to a power strip (opened) with a lamp with a 6W LED bulb in it. I have not yet updated the firmware (http://aeotec.com/z-wave-home-energy-measure/1262-hem-firmware.html), but things seem to be working.

A few questions:
  • When I go into the setup for the module, there is only one variable id (1). Getting that variable returns "110" (I'm in the US). Based on the above linked command sheet, should there not be a bunch of other variables, and why does the command listing say that #1 should default to 120 instead of 110?
  • Under the same setup, in "Multi Instance/Channel", I can pull values for 1 and 2. These numbers are very close together (with a 9W lightbulb, it pulls a 7.04 and a 6.38). Which number is what? And after polling both numbers, the display on the dashboard shows 13.42. I'm assuming the 13.42 is Watts (which seems high for a 6W bulb)?
  • Under "Meter", there is a "Get" button for things like "Watt", "kWh", etc. However, pressing it seems to do nothing. What is this for?

Thanks!

OK, so I figured out I was just being dumb about the clamps, and should have only been using one clamp on just the "line" side since the device is built for two phase, which means the 7.04 is he actual number being used.

However, the other two questions I've yet to figure out. Thanks.

And now I'm really lost.. Updated the firmware and suddenly it's reporting over 1600 on clamp 1, and 638 even if there isn't any power.. One reviewer on Amazon said he was getting his power reported at a factor of 256. Could this be happening?

Talking to myself is fun. :)

What a nightmare that was. For anyone who runs into this in the future, search Google for Firmware 3.61.  Here's the article that helped me (https://systembash.com/aeon-labs-smart-energy-meter-home-hem/) and here is a direct link to the firmware (https://systembash.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/HEM361.zip).

Downgrade to that version, then remove the device from the Z-wave network/homegenie, and re-add it. That worked for me.

Wether this does anything or not, I have no idea, but I also did a "reset procedure" by holding down the button in the battery compartment, pulling the power cable, then sticking it back in while continuing to hold that button.

So, the only remaining question I have is:
  • How do I reset the counter in the HG Energy Monitor?
