v525 on RPi fails update check with "connection error!"
Log says:

Error getting response stream (Write: The authentication or decryption has failed.): SendFailure

Same here:

I did update the mozilla certs as recommended elsewhere.

This on Debian/Intel 8.5 rather than RPi.
