Has anyone ever had success using a Good Wave Z-Wave USB stick with HomeGenie? http://www.goodway.com.tw/ia/product3.asp?listid=6&id=6&subid=66&pid=742&typeid=142 and some more info here: http://www.pepper1.net/zwavedb/device/290

I've installed the stick with the PL2303 Prolific driver in Windows 7 and that seems to work fine.

But when I try to add a node with http://www.e-domotica.com/en/e-domotica-power-metering-switch-eu EM6552 I can't get it to pair.

Any ideas? I'm a total noob.

Thanks!

Apparing in zwave is a little bit like bluetooth, 2 mains step :
  • zwave controller in listen mode : your controller doesn't seems to have button, so you need to use HomeGenie Web interface : Configure->Interfaces-> Zwave controller -> Add module
  • zwave device in listen mode : i don't know but probably a button to press

Last to have all "option" of your device, you perhaps need to "get" on device configuration (wake up needed for battery device).

Good luck  :)

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually not seeing the options you stated.

I have a Settings page and then some bars that expand. If I expand the Z-Wave bar I can choose the COM port my Z-Wave USB is linked to and then I can add nodes.
But when I try to add a node and press the button on my energy monitor it can't find it.
Also when I click Discovery - it starts and stops instantly.

Am I missing something?

Ok  :-\ probably HomeGenie doesn't work well with this key ...
Can you launch HomeGenie and take a look in the log ?
Probably with the following command line :
Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files\HomeGenie\HomeGenieService.exe

Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate your helping me. The computer I am trying to setup crashed and didn't have time until now to re-install.

Here's my log (COM3 is what the z-wave usb adapter is set to):

The link you posted for this stick did not work for me.  Is it still working for you?  How much was it?  Thanks!

Looks like the Goodway site doesn't have it listed anymore. Not sure why. But no, it currently doesn't work with HomeGenie, which is what I am troubleshooting.

Here's another vendor:
http://www.computex.biz/goodway/default.aspx?com_id=1276&pdt_id=30863&PageType=ProductDetail&ContentTab=Introduction

I purchased mine from http://www.e-domotica.com/
They actually don't have it listed, but offered it to me when I asked. It is the EU frequency because I am in Cambodia and needed a 220v appliance. They gave it to me cheap since I bought some other products from them.

Here's more info as well: https://fccid.io/document.php?id=1384686

Anyone able to give me some help? Is there any hope of getting the Good Wave Z-Wave USB working with HomeGenie or is it quite difficult? Thanks so much!

I actually got it to work! I believe it was related to USB power.
I disabled the sleep option to ensure the USB port always had power: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/147369-usb-selective-suspend-turn-off.html

And now it works!
