Hi everyone. I am a two day N00b with HomeGenie. I found it while looking for HA solutions to work with Raspberry Pi's. So far I love it. However I am having problems with getting my Foscam camera's working. I wanted to see if anyone on the forum here has had any luck getting Foscam FI8918W's working.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm waiting for my IP camera to arrive, its not a foscam, but I will update you if I can get it working with HG.  I'm still waiting for some help getting a fire alarm working with HG.

Hi spcmky,

I have 3 cameras, two Foscam clones which are compatible with your cam (I think) and one genuine Foscam camera, here is the setup for them:

Foscam Clone
http://[IPAddress]/snapshot.cgi?user=[Username]&pwd=[Password]

Genuine Foscam (FI9831W)
http://[IPAddress]/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=[Username]&pwd=[Password]

I'm hoping to get a Foscam but until then I set up an old android phone running the "IP Webcam" app to make use of the phone's camera.  It has not worked in HG so far but I think I see why now.  I was just putting the IP of the webcam and not the full url to the video stream.  I 'll have to figure out what that URL is and give it a try in HG. Thanks!

Yup that's pretty much how I got mine working.  Just need to get the image API address for your camera and don't forget to add the port number to the address if you changed the HTTP port in the camera settings.  So far mine is working great including a live stream 1fps.  Good luck!   :D

First, of all, thanks to Gene and all others who created this software, I like it a lot

I am playing with it now and it works fine with my Aeon Z-wave, some scripting for Shutters and lamps.. also perfect

What does not work is my Foscam FI8919W cam  I tried a few scriptings, when I use them directly in a browser it works fine. In Generic Cam nothing, Does somebody have a solution for this?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Rob,

Check the URL you are using is the URL for the video stream itself and not for the camera web interface.  I had to add /video to the URL and then it eventually started working.  Not sure why it didn't start right away though.

Hi Kevin

Hi guy's,

Here you have some URL instead of the type of the Foscam IP Camera.

http://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=foscam

cplBlutch, are you using a 'snapshot' or a 'stream' URL?

I cannot get the streams to work in Homegenie, but snapshots work fine and are continually updated at a few frames per second.

Could you show us an example of the URL you are using? Are you leaving the User/Password fields blank like in the example screenshot I supplied earlier?

Hi

I want to use the snapshot version with User/password

If I use this snapshot url directly in the browser it works fine

http://192.168.178.25/snapshot.cgi?user=tester&pwd=1234

This one does not work in the browser

http://192.168.178.25/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=tester&pwd=1234

Btw, If I let the user/password empty the login popup screen appears

Hi,

Can you use this URL :
    http://192.168.178.25/snapshot.cgi
And define the user and the password in the HomeGenie camera Parameters as in the screenshot following

For me this works fine.

Cheers
Dani

I do not see the screen in REPLY 12. Where is it. I configure as sensor but only get Alarm or Windows push.

Can anyone help?
